A Look Back at 2017

As we enter into a new year, I can't help but think about 2017.

We served 1,587 unduplicated individuals for the year. We served 19, 294 meals. We saw 60 families come through our doors.

We provided 6,124 showers and did 2,651 loads of guest laundry, providing dignity and hope to those that needed it the most.

We saw 124 men and 34 women transition back into society, with employment/income and housing. We saw 45 families gainfully employed and permanently housed.

We had wins, we had losses. We had wonderful days full of joy where we all, staff and guest alike, celebrated and we had days of tears.

We hired new staff and lost beloved team members.

But one thing didn't change in 2017 -- Bishop Dudley Hospitality House was and is still a place of hope, of change, of dignity. Each day, we strive to serve our guests the best we can. We strive to make permanent change in people's lives, to promote self-sufficiency, and to be a place of refuge to those that seek it.

As 2018 gets going, I invite you all to be a part of what happens here. I invite you to volunteer, to donate, to take a tour. I invite you to come to events, to like our Facebook page, to help us raise awareness of both BDHH and the homeless situation here in Sioux Falls.

In 2018, we invite you to join us in helping those in our community that need it the most and to be a part of changing those 1,587 lives.
